Colombia: Betsson takes on jersey main sponsor role in Atletico Nacional partnership

Betting operator Betsson has secured a three-year deal with Atlético Nacional, one of the leading football clubs in Colombia, making it the global main sponsor of the team.

This agreement marks the club’s first major jersey sponsorship change in 23 years. Atlético Nacional, founded in 1947, boasts a record of 33 titles, including two Copa Libertadores victories.

Atletico Nacional expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “We welcome Betsson with open arms. A company with a global presence and expansion projects in Latin America that aligns with our goal to be a reference in international football. Together, we are sure that we will conquer great titles.”

The Betsson sponsorship covers both the men’s and women’s teams of Atlético Nacional, with the company’s logo to be featured on their shirts starting from the 2024 Colombian football season. According to the company, this agreement is part of Betsson’s ongoing commitment to Latin American sports and reflects its continued growth in the region.

Jesper Svensson, CEO of Betsson Operations, expressed pride in the sponsorship, saying: “We are honored to be the main sponsor of the legendary Rey de Copas (King of Cups), the biggest and most successful team in the history of Colombian football.

This partnership, occurring as Betsson just celebrated its 60th anniversary, further solidifies our position as a leading supporter of Latin American sports. Recognizing the immense passion stirred by Nacional, we are committed to providing fans with unforgettable moments, offering them a football experience like never before.”

Betsson also maintains active sponsorships with other football clubs in Latin America, including two of the top Argentine teams, Boca Juniors and Racing de Avellaneda. This new agreement with Atlético Nacional adds another club to Betsson’s global sports sponsorship portfolio.

As for other recent sports-related sponsorships, in December of 2023, the company inked a deal with the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF), becoming the naming sponsor for the Greek Cup from 2023 to 2026.
